Following the publication of the COMMISSION DELEGATED REGULATION (EU) 2023/1640 of 5 June 2023 on the methodology to determine the share of biofuel and biogas for transport, produced from biomass being processed with fossil fuels in a common process, Participant Operators using a method other than the radiocarbon (14C) testing as the main testing method should regularly use radiocarbon (14C) testing of the outputs to verify the correctness of the main testing method used. The requirements for these methods are set out in the following RSB standards: • RSB-PRO-11-001-20-001 – RSB EU RED Traceability • RSB-STD-11-001 – Standard for EU Market Access This guidance provides further information on 14C test results.

RSB Procedure for Joining the RSB Impact Alliance

This procedure defines the requirements for RSB’s endorsement of Voluntary Certification Systems joining the RSB Impact Alliance. To this end, this procedure defines the basis for collaboration with other Voluntary Certification Systems to remove barriers and scale positive impacts on our path to transition into a circular bioeconomy. Once endorsed, Certification Systems can allow Certification Bodies that are recognised under those Systems to audit, certify and issue certificates based on the requirements identified in this procedure. Operators that are certified under the RSB Impact Alliance will be able to make RSB Impact Alliance claims on their products, processes and services.

STD-02-001 RSB Standard for Advanced Products (non-energy use)

This RSB Standard for Advanced Products enables producers of non-energy use products and their intermediates to demonstrate sustainable practices throughout their supply chain. Advanced Products can come in different forms. The following product categories are covered by this standard: • Category I: Products that are bio-based. These products are derived from biomass and have a share of bio-based content not less than 25% present in the product; • Category II: Products produced from non-biogenic end-of-life products or production residues; • Category III: Products produced in a production system that processes bio-based feedstock or non-bio-based end-of-life products or production residues in combination with virgin fossil feedstock and that ensures that at least 25% of the virgin fossil feedstock needed to produce the certified product batch are replaced by alternative feedstock (bio-based feedstock or non-bio-based end-of-life products, by-products or residues).
