RSB to host workshop at the Global Bioeconomy Summit 2024, empowering Africa’s workforce for the bioeconomy

On 24 October 2024, RSB will host the workshop ‘Ready for Takeoff: Empowering Africa’s Workforce for the Bioeconomy and a Just Transition‘ at this year’s Global Bioeconomy Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

RSB’s workshop will see regional experts discuss the challenges and opportunities for Africa’s future workforce in terms of skills development in the bioeconomy space, as well as the potential socio-economic impact on the future of Africa.



Speakers include:

  • Prof. James Onchieku, Chief Research Scientist and a Senior Lecturer and Kisii University, and RSB Board Member
  • Prof. Nicholas Ozor, a Professor of Public Policy and the Executive Director of the African Technology Policy Studies (ATPS) Network.
  • Prof. Sameer Hameer, a registered professional aerospace engineer and director of the School of Aerospace and Vehicle Engineering at the Technical University of Kenya.
  • Gladys Kivati, a sustainability expert with a focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) at Sustainable Business Consulting.
  • Prof. Kassahun Tesfaye, a Professor at Addis Ababa University, and Director General of the Bio and Emerging Technology Institute.
  • Hannah Walker, Deputy Executive Director, RSB.
  • Yitatek Yitbarek, Regional Manager, RSB.
