What is the Global Bioeconomy Summit?
The Global Bioeconomy Summit (GBS) is a prestigious international event that brings together bioeconomy leaders from around the world, reflecting the interdisciplinary and diverse nature of the field. Launched in 2015, GBS was designed to be a global, inclusive summit, uniting experts from all corners of the world to showcase the bioeconomy’s diverse and interdisciplinary features.
For the first time, under theme is ‘One Planet – Sustainable Bioeconomy Solutions for Global Challenges’, GBS will be held in Africa – across 23 and 24 October – to profile, advance and recognise the importance of the bioeconomy for Africa and other regions in advancing sustainable development.
GBS 2024 is being organised by BioInnovate Africa and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), and in collaboration with the International Advisory Council on Global Bioeconomy (IACGB), the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), and other partners.
