Elena Schmidt

Elena is RSB’s Executive Director. Elena Schmidt joined the RSB in 2015 and served as the RSB Standards Director until taking over as Executive Director. Prior to joining the RSB, she was Head of the TÜV SÜD Certification Body for Climate and Energy. Elena has extensive experience with sustainability programmes and a strong record of delivering product and business model innovations.

As an auditor, Elena has gained comprehensive experience in auditing complex chain of custody settings. Elena managed several innovation projects for the development of new certification services which comprised not only of standard setting in cooperation with partners from the private and public sector, but also strategic business model development. Elena earned Master’s degrees in both Environmental and Political Sciences.
