11 July 2023 | Geneva, Switzerland. The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) is pleased to announce a leadership transition within the RSB Board of Directors. Adam Klauber and Valentina Vecchio have taken over the roles of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board, respectively, as Maiju Helin and Laurel Harmon step down from their positions, having served their full terms.

Adam Klauber brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Chair of the RSB Board. As the Vice-President of Sustainability and Book & Claim at World Energy, Adam brings a proven track record in advancing sustainability innovation with commercial pragmatism. In his former position at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) established and co-led broad coalitions, including Clean Skies for Tomorrow with the World Economic Forum, and co-founded the Sustainable Aviation Buyers Alliance (SABA) with the Environmental Defense Fund. Leveraging his expertise in driving global collaboration and pioneering new climate solutions at scale, Adam is poised to guide RSB toward new heights.

Valentina Vecchio, who assumes the role of Vice Chair of the Board, is a recognised industry leader in aerospace sustainability. Valentina is Boeing’s Global Sustainability Policy and Partnerships Strategy leader. A lawyer by training with extensive experience in aerospace policy and regulatory affairs, Valentina is responsible to manage an integrated sustainability strategy to advance Boeing’s global partnerships. Having served on the RSB Board since 2021 and as an RSB Delegate before that, she is well-equipped to further strengthen RSB’s sustainability efforts.

The RSB Board of Directors plays a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and decision-making processes of the organisation. Comprised of distinguished professionals and experts from various sectors, the Board is committed to RSB’s vision of advancing the just and sustainable transition to a biocircular economy.

As the new leadership assumes their roles, RSB looks forward to embarking on this new chapter, building upon past achievements, and spearheading innovative strategies that will drive sustainable development forward,” said Elena Schmidt, RSB Executive Director.

RSB is unique in developing essential climate solutions built from a foundation of rigorous sustainability standards. I am honoured to guide RSB to maximise public trust in environmental products at this critical time for our society,” said Adam Klauber, Chair of the RSB Board of Directors.

I am honoured to be elected vice chair of the RSB board. Through their expertise and global reach, RSB further helps Boeing to enhance collaboration for a more sustainable aerospace, develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives and global partnerships, while placing sustainability standards front and centre. To put the ‘S’ in SAF, we need champions like RSB,” said Valentina Vecchio, Vice-Chair of the RSB Board of Directors.
