Aviation generates more than 4.9 million jobs and contributes US$ 153 million to GDP in Latin America. There is a huge potential for Latin American market growth and continued increase of routes, which could ensure that nine of the largest cities in Latin America be part of the 100 mega-cities in the coming decades. The role of aviation in economic and social development of the city where the airport is located is increasingly important, because an airport has direct influence on the city´s economy and the future of the country. How to overcome the challenges to achieve full development in the region is of key import.
