RSB announces partnership with World Economic Forum’s First Movers Coalition to guide and scale aviation decarbonisation
.
The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) is pleased to announce its partnership with the World Economic Forum’s First Movers Coalition (FMC) as an Implementation Partner for the Aviation Sector. This collaboration aims to further enhance knowledge, leadership and decision-making power on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) among the many stakeholders of both organisations – to ensure that the switch to SAF supports decarbonisation goals and advances sustainability within the industry.
The FMC leverages the collective purchasing power of companies to drive the adoption of emerging technologies critical for decarbonising heavy industry and transportation sectors. RSB has long been a trusted partner in the aviation sector’s transition to SAF, providing guidance to ensure this transition delivers tangible carbon emission reductions, as well as positive social and environmental impacts.
As an Implementation Partner, RSB will play a crucial role in promoting the adoption of SAF at scale among FMC partner companies, ensuring it is done sustainably.
“We are delighted to partner with the World Economic Forum’s First Movers Coalition as an Implementation Partner for the Aviation Sector,” said RSB’s Executive Director, Elena Schmidt. “This partnership underscores the importance of collaborating to unlock sustainable SAF at scale. Together, we can advance sustainable practices in the aviation industry and support FMC members in achieving both their decarbonisation and their broader sustainability goals.“
“By focusing on fuel that cuts life-cycle emissions by 85%, FMC already has one of the most ambitious SAF demand commitments. As FMC Aviation members look at fulfilling their commitments, we welcome the expertise and knowledge of RSB to ensure we keep sustainability at the core of our work,” said Rob van Riet, Interim Head, First Movers Coalition. “We look forward to working with RSB to accelerate aviation decarbonisation.”
Through this partnership, RSB aims to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and bring about meaningful change within the aviation industry, contributing to global efforts to reduce emissions and combat climate change.
