We are thrilled to announce the first keynote speaker of this year’s RSB Annual Conference: Elizabeth Wathuti!
Elizabeth Wathuti is a 27-year-old climate activist and environmentalist from Nyeri County in Kenya. In 2016, she founded the Green Generation Initiative, a non-profit and youth-led organisation that nurtures thousands of young people to be environmentally conscious, and has already planted more than 30,000 tree seedlings in her country. In 2021, she spoke at the opening ceremony of COP26 about the climate devastation impacting the continent of Africa and the children who live there. And this year, she was named in the TIME100 Next 2022 – a list of emerging leaders from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership.
Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders and a former President of Ireland had this to say about Ms. Wathuti: “Her tenacious belief in our human capacity to do what is right should move and inspire us all. She demonstrates that climate action requires urgency, but that together we can—and must—create a better world.”
Ms. Wathuti will be the keynote speaker on Day 1 of the RSB Annual Conference – a day of centred around the theme of “INNOVATE”. She will be joined by a number of other impressive speakers, including:
