INOVYN Launches a New Generation of PVC, with a 100% RSB-Certified Sustainable Supply Chain
The world’s first certification to RSB’s new Advanced Products Standard was announced today, with the launch of INOVYN’s latest generation of PVC with a 100% RSB-certified supply chain.
For the production of BIOVYNTM fossil feedstock has been substituted with bio-attributed ethylene in the supply chain, a renewable feedstock that does not compete with the food chain.
BIOVYNTM is certified by RSB as delivering a 100% substitution of fossil feedstock in its production system, enabling a significant greenhouse gas saving compared to conventionally produced PVC.
Having started the certification process in June this year, the BIOVYNTM supply chain demonstrates the speed at which certification to RSB’s best in class sustainability standard can be achieved.
INOVYN’s choice of an RSB-certified renewable feedstock demonstrates its commitment to supporting food security, human rights, zero deforestation and positive outcomes in a range of other social and environmental issues as they drive innovation in the circular and bio-economy.
RSB provided ongoing support to INOVYN and its supply chain partners throughout the certification process, via tailored advisory services, to ensure that they were well prepared for their audit to RSB’s requirement.
The first use of BIOVYN™ will be by Tarkett who will source it for a new upcoming flooring range.
“We are extremely pleased to partner with INOVYN and source the world’s first commercially available grade of bio-attributed vinyl”, said Myriam Tryjefaczka, Director Sustainability and Public Affairs for Tarkett EMEA. “It illustrates once again Tarkett’s commitment to push the boundaries of sustainable innovations. Sourcing BIOVYNTM for a new flooring collection to be launched in Europe in 2020 is a key step in our journey to shift toward a circular economy model and respond to climate challenges
Rolf Hogan, Executive Director of RSB, had this to say, “We are extremely pleased to see BIOVYNTM enter the market carrying an RSB certification, demonstrating its excellent sustainability credentials. Offering a real climate impact –– as well as proven social and environmental risk mitigation, this new product is a true leader in the emerging circular bioeconomy.”
