Avril Group’s SAIPOL join the RSB community

RSB is delighted to welcome SAIPOL, part of the AVRIL Group in France and the largest biodiesel producer in the EU, to our membership community. SAIPOL, seeking to cement their leadership on sustainability issues, will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the community and our work in the ongoing development of our best-in-class sustainability standard – and we hope to see them pursuing RSB certification in the future.

SAIPOL’s operations include the production of biodiesel, edible oils and other bio-based oil products. Having the commitment and input of such a large producer is great news for the future of the sustainable bioeconomy in Europe and we look forward to working together to promote sustainability with SAIPOL and its partners in the region. Set up in 1983 as an initiative of farmers looking to develop the French production of oilseeds and protein crops, SAIPOL and AVRIL Group have grown to be one of the most significant parts of the European bioeconomy.

Romain LEBAS, head of Sustainable Development department at SAIPOL had this to say, “Building strong connections with farmers and supporting them to implement sustainable agricultural techniques and follow a path of continuous improvement is a key strategy for SAIPOL to ensure that we have access to the very best and most sustainable feedstocks. Working with a trusted and reliable sustainability standard like RSB will enable us to support sustainability across our entire supply chain.

RSB’s Rolf Hogan was equally positive about this step, “Working with SAIPOL is an exciting step in the journey to real sustainability in the bioeconomy. Their dedication to sustainability in their supply chains and to supporting feedstock producers to make the best possible decisions will be an inspiration for the entire bioeconomy and we look forward to seeing our community continue to thrive.
