RSB publishes pre-feasibility study on Brassica carinata for biofuels in Ethiopia

RSB is proud to publish a pre-feasibility study for the production and processing of the Brassica carinata crop for biofuels in Ethiopia.
The rising demand for greenhouse gas reduction emissions and the goal for establishing a low-carbon economy has led countries towards the exploration of many possible solutions. One of the main pathways is the utilisation of low-carbon sustainable biomass feedstock. Biofuels play a key role in the mitigation of CO₂ emissions, and the increased use of renewable fuels in transport will pave the way towards a low-carbon economy.
The Ethiopian SAF Roadmap has identified Brassica carinata (or Ethiopian Mustard), an oil crop from Ethiopia, as a promising potential biomass feedstock to produce biofuels – especially sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This pre-feasibility study, therefore, aims to give a clearer understanding on this potential by providing up-to-date and detailed information on the crop’s potential to produce SAF in Ethiopia.
