Laxman Neupane, is the Manager for the Centre for Empowerment and Development (CED) Nepal based in Bhaisepati, Lalitpur, Nepal. He joined CED Nepal in 2013 working for the Governance, Human Development and Sustainability Program, and promotes sustainable smallholder biofuels in Nepal. Before joining CED Nepal, he worked on a sustainability of Access & Benefit Sharing (ABS) and biological resources project in Nepal. Laxman has experience in renewal energy (biogas, micro hydropower), community forests, irrigation, and environment management. Laxman was board director to the government-owned and largest commercial bank (Rastraya Banijya Bank Ltd.) in Nepal, where he brought policies for financing the renewable energy programme. Laxman has worked with grassroots communities in areas of irrigation, micro hydro, biogas and forests. Laxman received advanced research and training experience in sustainability science from University of Basel, Switzerland; he also holds an MBA from Lincoln University, CA, USA, a postgraduate degree in GIS/Rural Development from the Netherlands, and a postgraduate degree in Economics from Nepal. He has received training on Advanced International Economic and Financial Planning for Rural Development from Israel, Microfinance for Micro-Enterprise Professionals from USA and International Value Chain Development from Kathmandu.
