James Reeler

WWF South Africa - Chamber 4 - Environmental

James Reeler holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, and an MSc in Climate Change and Development from the University of Cape Town. He joined the Worldwide Fund for Nature South Africa in 2012, where he currently holds the position of Senior Climate Specialist.

 

He has worked on climate change issues around mitigation, adaptation and impacts for more than 18 years, focussing on building resilience and trying to shift society to a low-carbon future. He has worked within the private sector and public sector, including developing adaptation projects for several UN agencies. Over the 10 years that he has been with WWF, he has played a role in assessing carbon markets, engaging with national and international policy, and engaged with many partner organisations to provide technical inputs into climate change issues. He has provided guidance on WWF South Africa’s energy engagements, as well as work on biofuels and the bioeconomy.

 

Most recently, he has been involved in a project working to develop a sustainable aviation fuel sector in sub-Saharan Africa together with the RSB, and focussing specifically on ensuring sustainability within the supply chain.
