Juan Manuel Viver

Based in Barcelona, Juan is responsible for developing and implementing a policy approach to support the goals and objectives of RSB in key regions and sectors related to sustainable bioeconomy, with a focus on hard-to-abate sectors such as air transport, maritime transport, or biomaterials. 

Prior to joining RSB, Juan worked as Policy Manager at the Transition Programme of the Climate Bonds Initiative, an international organisation working to mobilise global capital for climate action through its own standard and certification scheme for green bonds and other financial instruments. Juan gained key understanding on the financing of the transition to net-zero of hard-to-abate industries, with a focus on the chemicals sector and private capital mobilisation. Juan has extensive financial sector experience, having devoted most of his career to sustainable finance and financial regulation. Having obtained a MA in European Economic Studies from the College of Europe in Brugge after his undergraduate studies in Economy, Juan moved to Brussels where he participated in the post-crisis regulatory overhaul of the finance sector.

He is a former member of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) SMSG advisory group. Juan is fluent in English and French, and his native languages are Catalan and Spanish.
