Esther Hegel

Esther is RSB’s EU Project Manager, where she works closely with the EU Project Lead to support the fundraising and implementation of projects funded by Horizon Europe and other EU funding programmes.

Based in Frankfurt, Germany, she is an experienced R&D Project Manager in the biocircular economy sector with in-depth knowledge on the environmental and economic assessment of novel bioeconomic value chains. She is a bioprocess engineer by training and holds an PhD in Industrial Biotechnology which she obtained in scope of a European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship at the DSM Biotechnology Center Delft and the University of Groningen.

Previously employed at DECHEMA e.V., an expert network for chemical engineering and biotechnology in Germany, Esther was leading and supporting numerous German and European research projects where she gained crucial expertise in research project management, life cycle assessments, biorefinery concepts, stakeholder engagement, market analysis and external communications. Since 2018, Esther has actively volunteered at the Marie Curie Alumni Association, promoting the sustainable growth of its vibrant alumni community beyond research.
